Author Guidelines

Authors are invited to make a submission to this journal. All submissions will be assessed by an editor to determine whether they meet the aims and scope of this journal. Those considered to be a good fit will be sent for peer review before determining whether they will be accepted or rejected.

Before making a submission, authors are responsible for obtaining permission to publish any material included with the submission, such as photos, documents and datasets. All authors identified on the submission must consent to be identified as an author. Where appropriate, research should be approved by an appropriate ethics committee in accordance with the legal requirements of the study's country.

An editor may desk reject a submission if it does not meet minimum standards of quality. Before submitting, please ensure that the study design and research argument are structured and articulated properly. The title should be concise and the abstract should be able to stand on its own. This will increase the likelihood of reviewers agreeing to review the paper. When you're satisfied that your submission meets this standard, please follow the checklist below to prepare your submission.

Author identification

Kinephanos is a refereed journal. Each text received is submitted anonymously to a double peer review.

In order to facilitate the double-blind peer review process, please do not include any author identification data in the article file (name and metadata in the file, references to previous publications, etc.). Author information is only entered in the proposal metadata on the OJS platform.

Editorial guidelines

Layout

For regular issues, the article should be between 45,000 and 60,000 characters long, including spaces (excluding references and appendices). For special issues, it is possible to reduce the expected length of proposals. For example, we suggest 20,000 to 25,000 characters for conference proceedings.

Practice accounts of research-creation practice should be between 20,000 and 35,000 characters in length, including spaces (excluding references and appendices).

Each article should include an abstract in French and English (approx. 800 characters) and a list of 6 keywords in both languages.

Text should be 1.5 line spaced, using a 12-point sans-serif font (e.g. Arial, Helvetica, Open Sans, etc.). Avoid indentations at the beginning of paragraphs.

Tables should be inserted in the text and not at the end of the document as attachments.

The document must not be paginated; no headers or footers.

Accepted document formats are Word (.doc, .docx) or Open document (.odt).

Style

Citations and references must follow Chicago 17th edition bibliographic standards.

Authors are responsible for the accuracy of references and citations.

Citations

Short citations (3 lines or less) should be enclosed in quotation marks and presented within the body of the text.

Long citations (4 lines or more) should be separated from the body text. Start the quote on a new line, with the entire citation indented 0.5 cm from the left margin. The quotation should retain the same font size and line spacing, and should not include quotation marks. No italics should be applied, even if it is in another language.

The addition or modification of words should be indicated in square brackets ([ ]). The omission of words should be indicated by three dots in square brackets ([...]).

For references, please use the name/date system in the text. If the citation is not preceded in the text by the author's name, the parenthetical reference should be as follows: (Author, date, page number). If the author's name and the date of the work appear in the text immediately before the quote, the parenthetical reference should include only the page number.

Notes

Notes are formatted as footnotes.

The note number must be inserted before the punctuation mark, without spaces. In the case of notes inserted in the parenthesis, the number must be inserted before the closing parenthesis.

Images, graphics and other visuals

The use of images and other visuals is encouraged. Authors must ensure that they have permission to use images in their articles, which will be published online in open access.

Please number the figures in order and indicate their location in the main document by <Figure 1.>, <Figure 2.>, etc. Each figure should be accompanied by a title or a caption.

When submitting the proposal, image files must be uploaded as additional files.

If the article is accepted, a high-resolution version of the images will be required.

The legibility of tables, graphics and images is the responsibility of the authors.

Preferred formats are .jpg, .png and .svg.

Additional documents

The online version of the journal may contain all kinds of additional material, which will be provided as hyperlinks accompanying the article. This may include bibliographies too large to be included in the article itself, images, audio files, videos, spreadsheets, etc. Rights and permissions for supplementary material must also be approved by the authors.
