Shimmer et Chimère. Genre, transe et rimes à l’ère de l’anthropocène dans Annihilation de Jeff Vandermeer et Alex Garland.
Keywords:
science-fiction, horror, rime, echo, splicingAbstract
This article ambitions to offer a reading of Alex Garland’s Annihilation through the scope of feminist theories and popular science-fiction, as conceptualized by Donna Harraway, Christine Cornea and Vivian Sobchack, among others. It also aims at building new critical tools such as the “rhyme” to address references in cinema. Annihilation offers a splicing of beloved creatures and themes, often seen in sci-fi/horror movies, such as Alien and The Thing. A careful review of these references, and their unique nature, allows us to craft a singular definition of science-fiction.
